Your friends at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovrs.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OVRS<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> want you and your pet to enjoy everything winter in Michigan has to offer. We\u2019ve compiled a list of popular winter pet activities for you and your pet. Whether you\u2019re the outdoorsy type or prefer to avoid the elements, there\u2019s something for everyone!<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><b>Outdoor Activities<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s something invigorating about exercising outdoors in the winter. Try these activities to get your pet\u2019s, and your, blood pumping this season:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Fetch<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Who says you can\u2019t play fetch in the winter? The mechanics are the same regardless of the weather: throw ball, dog runs after ball, dog (hopefully) returns ball to you. Repeat.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Skijorking<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Skijorking is a combination of cross-country skiing and dog sledding. If you love outdoor winter activities and have a healthy, energetic dog who is at least 35lbs., this high energy sport may be right up your alley.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Snowshoeing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 There\u2019s nothing like enjoying the breathtaking Michigan scenery while floating over the snow on a pair of snowshoes. As of yet, snowshoes for dogs aren\u2019t available, so make your outings shorter than usual at first to avoid overtiring your dog, who, unlike you, will be trudging through the snow.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember to follow all cold weather <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovrs.com\/blog\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">safety precautions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before heading out of doors!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indoor Activities<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Agility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Fulfill your dog\u2019s natural hunting and chasing instincts while strengthening the bond between the two of you with indoor agility training. There are a variety of agility courses and training classes in Eastern Michigan and the Detroit metro area to choose from. You can even set up your own agility course in the garage or basement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Hide and seek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Chances are your pet will enjoy a game of good ol\u2019 fashioned hide and seek. Simply hide a favorite toy or piece of kibble in a relatively easy location, and encourage him or her to \u201cfind it\u201d. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Doga<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Yoga for dogs, or \u201cdoga\u201d is gaining in popularity among yoga loving dog owners. Doga practitioners bond with their pets while encouraging their natural stretching postures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Brain games<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Dogs and cats thrive on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovrs.com\/blog\/snooze-fest-stimulation-for-a-bored-pet\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mental stimulation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
