Dedicated to Southeastern Michigan's Communities: The Emergency Animal Relief Foundation (TEAR)
OVRS believes charitable giving and community involvement is an important responsibility. That’s why we are dedicated to the Southeastern Michigan veterinary communities through involvement both as individual citizens and as a hospital. OVRS is pleased to have founded The Emergency Animal Relief (TEAR) foundation, a non-profit organization initiated by the support staff and management of OVRS.
TEAR's main objectives:
- To provide charitable funding for emergency medical care for sick and injured animals brought in by “Good Samaritans”
- To provide support to qualified clients in need of financial assistance by providing emergency grants to help supplement the cost of care
- To sponsor clinic research for the advancement of veterinary medicine
- To enhance community education of veterinary medicine

TEAR at Winterfest
On January 21st, the Tear Foundation had an opportunity to participate in the first Winterfest held in Lyon Township. Thanks to Wonderjump owner and Winterfest chairperson, Troy Powe, for inviting us to have a booth!
After a month of warm temperatures, the weather came through to offer a beautiful day of sun and snow. Over 300 people rode the sled dogs and enjoyed Elvis and Justin Bieber (impresssionists... not the real thing!). With all the great activities -- ice skating, sleigh rides, an igloo building competition, a chili cook off, and more -- it was hard to even notice the cold!
Be sure to watch for announcements for the 2013 dates. It's an event you won't want to miss, and we look forward to seeing you there next year!

The Emergency Animal Relief (TEAR) Foundation “Our Family” wall is located in the lobby of the Oakland Veterinary Referral Services. This commemorative wall represents a permanent tribute to a beloved pet or person in your life. The tile you purchase for placement on “Our Family” wall will serve not only as a lasting legacy for a loved one, but also as a way to benefit animal health. Whether you purchase a tile or make a general contribution, the donations received will provide funding to Good Samaritans, animal rescuers, non-profit organizations and pet owners to help them care for animals in life-threatening situations.
To the Staff of Oakland Veterinary Services,
Just saying “thanks” and adding, too, it was especially nice of you for the care, services and compassion you provide.
Love you,
Joyce E.
Dear All,
God Bless each and every one of you for the wonderful things you do. I hope this will help.
Sincerely,
Max and Oliver
“Our Kitties”

To all involved, please use this small donation to help in the care and treatment of precious “Miracle”. As long as there are people in the world who see this type of tragedy as a cause worth fighting for there will always be HOPE. Thank you all for your dedication and kind, loving hearts. Please give that puppy a kiss for me.
Sincerely,
Mary Kay
